Enhancing Mental Health
Mental health well-being is such an important part of our overall well-being but it often goes unnoticed. There are many ways in which we can positively influence our psychological well-being. We can monitor our own actions and behaviour. We can take steps to make active choices instead of accepting whatever happens.
The problems faced by everyone vary greatly and also there is no universal way of staying psychologically healthy. However,here are some the ways in which we can positively influence our psychological well-being :
Accepting your feelings: Accepting your feelings is the first step in enhancing your mental health. People often don't show their emotions in fear of getting judged or mistaken. They tend to suppress their emotions in order to escape from the harsh reality. We need to know that its normal to feel sad, disappointed or angry. Unpleasant emotional reaction is normal to many situations.

However , sometimes such situations arises where we can't openly show our emotions ( showing anger to your boss) , its always a good idea to channelise those emotions in a productive way like taking a long walk or engaging in your favourite sport . Or just talk to a friend it helps you to get rid of tension and also helps you to find solutions to your problem.
Know your vulnerabilities: Knowing what kind of situations upsets you or what causes discomfort can help you to guard against stess. Many times there are situation which upsets us or cause lot of anxiety and stress we can try to avoid such places. And some people can also be toxic to your mental health, try understand what exactly about them makes you so uncomfortable.
Some people feel an intense amount of stress when they have to speak infront of public. You can try avoid such situations but the best way is to challenge your fear , you can take public speaking courses , and also reinterpret such situation positively.
So , knowing your vulnerabilities don't makes you weak rather it opens ground for better coping.
Develop your talents and interest: Nowadays there are many ways in which we can explore our talents and interest. Every person has some interest and are talented , even the person who looks upset and bored also have many interests . We should explore our field of interest as much as possible. Often when we know about our interest the life seems even more interesting. There is no greater joy of doing what we love and also it helps in boosting our self esteem.
Become involved with other people: We are social beings,we function in a society and with other people around us. We need the support , love , reassurance and comfort from other person around us. Feelings of isolation and loneliness is one of the main cause of mental health problems. So, involvement with other person are very necessary.

Know when to seek help: These are some of the ways in which we can positively influence our psychological health but it is not always enough. There are limitation to self understanding and self help. Not all problems can be handled alone, it is important to seek professional help when we need it . Recognising the need for help is a sign of emotional maturity not weakness, do not wait until you feel overwhelmed.
